Who doesn’t know this brand, Volkswagen. The brand has a rich history in the car and motorsport history. From the Volkswagen Beetle and the Karmann Ghia to the well-known Volkswagen Golf and the Volkswagen Polo, everyone has had an experience with this brand. Nowadays they’re mainly active in the World Rally Championship (also called WRC). Since 2018, the factory team has been racing the roads in a Volkswagen Polo GTI R5, the ultimate racing variant of the standard Volkswagen Polo GTI. We think it is great to be able to add a Volkswagen livery to our portfolio and we would like to tell you more about it in this blog!
The Polo GTI R5
With the Polo R WRC as its predecessor, with which Volkswagen won the FIA World Rally Championship four times between 2013 and 2016, the Polo GTI R5 has a considerable challenge ahead. However, the Wolfsburg company has not missed a chance to test it. Before the official presentation took place, they drove no less than 10,000 test kilometers with the new rally car. 50% of those kilometers were driven on asphalt, the remaining 50% on gravel. That’s what we call proper testing, haha!
The Polo GTI R5 is a beast with four-wheel drive and 272 HP. This brings you in 4.1 seconds to 100 km / h. The driver will fly through the five-speed sequential gearbox. Because it was been specially developed for private racing teams the car had a more than average price tag of € 200,000. You could buy 5 street legal Polo GTI’s for that amount of money! Before the launch Volkswagen already sold 15 cars, they mentioned. Various european and south american teams ordered the Polo GTI R5 before it even came out. This way they were able to use it directly for that upcoming season. Volkswagen presented the Polo GTI R5 during the Rally of Spain in October 2018.
Volkswagen presented the Polo GTI R5 in a spectacular livery. The livery contained a dynamic paint scheme with a red, white and black camouflage-like design that mimics a honeycomb structure. The colors and graphic patterns point out the kinship between the rally car and the standard GTI models. We think this livery made this car even more special!
Because of the stunning livery we decided to convert the livery to a phone case design. We chose a hardcase cover to protect your phone the best way possible without compromising the livery design. The detailed print and the powerful colors will blow your mind! Every phone case has a matte finish.
